Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
About GLIP
At the Great Lakes Institute of Photography (GLIP), we believe that education should be both inspiring and engaging. That’s why we offer an exceptional learning experience designed for photographers at every stage of their journey—whether you're a seasoned professional looking to refine your skills or a newer photographer ready to grow your craft and business.
One of the most valuable aspects of GLIP is the wide variety of instructors and classes you can choose from. Each course is led by experienced professionals who are passionate about helping you elevate your work. From creative techniques to business strategies, you’ll find classes that challenge, energize, and move your photography forward.
But GLIP is more than just a classroom—it’s a full experience.
We intentionally blend education with connection. Throughout the week, you’re invited to attend a variety of social events, including evening mixers, hospitality room gatherings, and our annual themed party. These moments allow you to relax, network, and build lasting relationships with fellow photographers from across the region.
Our home for the week is the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bay City – Riverfront. Located along the shoreline of the Saginaw River, this venue offers stunning views and plenty of creative opportunities to capture incredible images during your stay.
Perhaps most importantly, GLIP fosters a sense of community. Here, students and instructors alike become part of a supportive, encouraging network. The friendships and professional connections you form at GLIP often last long beyond your time in class.
At GLIP, you’re not just attending a workshop—you’re joining a family of photographers who are passionate about learning, growing, and lifting each other up.
