In a world where landscapes are endlessly photographed, few are truly experienced...and even fewer are crafted into lasting works of art. From Vision to Legacy is an immersive, week-long journey designed for photographers who feel the pull to create something more meaningful that go beyond documentation and become personal, expressive, and worthy of print.

At the heart of this experience is a fundamental shift: learning to see light not as illumination, but as language. Led by Dennis Hammon, this work shop guides you through the artistic evolution of a landscape photographer—from initial inspiration to refined execution, and ultimately to the creation of finished pieces that hold presence, emotion, and permanence.

Through a balance of fieldwork and classroom exploration, you’ll develop a deeper awareness of how light shapes mood, how composition guides the viewer, and how intention transforms a moment into a statement. This is not about chasing locations.  It’s about discovering your voice within them. By the end of the week, you won’t just have new images, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how to create work that endures

Biography: Dennis Hammon

Dennis Hammon is a photographic artist, educator, and speaker whose work and teaching are rooted in the belief that landscape photography is more than documentation—it is interpretation, emotion, and presence.

Based in Idaho and photographing professionally for more than five decades, Dennis has built a career defined by craftsmanship, expressive vision, and a deep reverence for the natural world.

Known for his dramatic and powerful landscapes and emotionally driven use of light and shadow, Dennis teaches photographers how to move beyond simply recording a scene and instead create images that carry atmosphere, depth, and personal meaning. His classes combine technical precision with artistic exploration, helping students strengthen not only their photographic skills, but also their creative voice and visual awareness.

Dennis holds the degrees of Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, Certified Professional Photographer, and Fellow of the American Society of Photographers. He is a past President of the American Society of Photographers, past President of both the Professional Photographers of Idaho and Professional Photographers of Utah and has served the profession nationally for decades through judging, speaking, mentoring, and leadership. He has been an Affiliate Juror for over 35 years, served on the PPA Certification Committee, and was among the first photographers in the country to earn the CertifiedProfessional Photographer designation.

Throughout his career, Dennis has received numerous honors for both his artistry and service to the profession, including the prestigious PPA Vanguard Award and the Bob Golding Award from ASP and 4 National Awards. Yet despite the accolades, his passion remains centered on the quiet experience of creating photographs that invite viewers to slow down, feel, and connect.

As an instructor, Dennis is known for creating immersive learning experiences that blend field work, critique, storytelling, and artistic reflection. His workshop will encourage photographers to look beyond trends and techniques and instead pursue authenticity, intention, and lasting artistic growth.

Whether teaching the grand landscape, the intimate detail, or the abstract interplay of light and form, Dennis brings honesty, depth, and decades of experience to every class—helping photographers discover not only how to make stronger images, but how to truly see.
