It’s hard to believe that what began in 1995 as a small gathering of passionate photographers has grown into the Great Lakes Institute of Photography—a thriving educational experience that brings together artists from across the country to learn, grow, and inspire one another. Thirty years later, we’re still here, still growing, and still lighting the way for photographers of all skill levels.

To our returning students: Welcome home. Your drive, vision, and commitment to your art are what keep GLIP alive. Each year, you come back stronger, bolder, and more imaginative—and we can’t wait to see how you’ll elevate your work in 2025.

To our new students: You’re in for something special. GLIP isn’t just a place to take classes—it’s a place where friendships form, creativity thrives, and lightbulb moments happen every single day. Whether you’re here to sharpen your technical skills, stretch your creative muscles, or simply find your people—you belong here.
