Richard’s fluid combination of photography with fine art skills stems from his original artistic roots and his portraits certainly reflect that. Trained in all types of media, Richard is one of our members that utilize digital painting in combination with his photography to create his fine art portrait style.

 

This work has earned him high praise within the photographic community.

Richard is a member of WPPI, PPA and ASP. He holds the titles of WPPI Master, PPA Photographic Master, PPA Master Artist, and PPA Photographic Craftsman. He is the

recipient of the following top awards.

With over 35 years’ experience as a creative artist, Richard brings a unique eye to the world of photographic education. Sharing knowledge and experience with others in the industry is something he enjoys. As part of his commitment to helping others learn and succeed, he has launched his own brand of educational materials to photographers, graphic artist, designers, and artist nationwide. As an artist, educator and international judge, Richard has dedicated his photographic knowledge to both his clients and his fellow photographers.

I’m so excited to bring this weeklong Advanced Compositing Workshop. The skill level in the industry has reach an incredible high over the last few years. This allows me to pull the trigger on the class I have been waiting to teach for years! What does that mean…. Well hold on and buckle your seat belt because we are about to fly!

This is the most in-depth composite class you will ever take. I will take you on a journey into to composites and all the different categories of composites to classify them.

What is a simple composite? What is a complex composite and how do you approach each?

Here are some points to what you will learn:

  1. Creating the concept and the story of a composite

  2. Creating a directors list for Photography session, Model, props, costumes, or anything that might be needed to plan the composite.

  3. Creating a solid foundation and composition that moves the story.

  4. Decided what kind of look and style to the technique you will choose.

  5. Technical extractions and blending, Color theory and color swatches for the color harmony of the story.

  6. What Creates depth? We will dive deep int each of these:

 

  • Scale

  • Contrast

  • Saturation

  • Perspective

  • Atmosphere

  • Composition of Color Harmony

 

 

  7. The Finish, How to Bring it home: Techniques to finish and polish the final Composite.
